Russia, China and Kazakhstan became the main trade partners of Uzbekistan in the
first half of 2018.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan
and Russia made up US$2.83 billion in January-June of 2018, which makes up 16% of the
total foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan.
China took the second place. The trade turnover between the countries in the
reported period reached US$2.81 billion, which is 15.9% of the total foreign trade turnover
The share of Kazakhstan in total foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan was 8.1%.
The total volume of trade between the countries was US$1.43 billion.
Among the five largest trade partners of Uzbekistan in January-July 2018 also were
Turkey (trade turnover – US$940 million and share in the total commodity turnover of
Uzbekistan – 5.3%) and South Korea (US$762.4 million and 4.3%).
Sky City to be constructed in Tashkent
Acting khokim (governor) of Tashkent city Jahongir Artykkhodjaev approved a
project on construction of Sky City in Tashkent, the press service of the Tashkent
The project was presented within the "Open Day" of the city administration.
SF Global is the initiator of the project Sky City. The cost of the project is US$500
million. Half of these funds investors are ready to invest in urban amenities.
Within the framework of the project, SF Global intends to build a complex of
modern buildings with a height of 30-40 floors, including the hotel, office and residential
It is expected that the construction will begin in five months after the final approval
of the site.
It should be noted that within the framework of the meeting with investors,
Jakhongir Artykkhodjaev familiarized himself with 62 projects worth US$591 million, of
which US$173 million are direct foreign investments.
The projects envisage the construction of residential complexes, social and
production facilities, as well as shopping and entertainment complexes.
Tashkent to host international conference on transport corridors
An international conference on “Central Asia in the system of international
transport corridors: strategic perspectives and unrealized opportunities” will be held on
20-21 September 2018 in Tashkent. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry
of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
During the event, issues of effective and mutually beneficial use of international
transport corridors, formation of a single, branched and outwardly integrated transport
space in Central Asia will be discussed to strengthen interrelations based on mutual trust
The aim of the event will be further development of the dialogue with international
financial institutions, organizations, transport unions, as well as representatives of
transport and logistics companies to develop existing and form new transport corridors.
