Dr. Amir Abdullahian had a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on regional and international issues, including developments in Afghanistan and the nuclear talks in Vienna.

In this telephone conversation, Dr. Amir-Abdollahian noted that despite the unfaithfulness and inaction of the United States and three European countries, Tehran has entered the Vienna nuclear talks in good faith and serious approach. Also, Iran is trying to reach a good agreement.

Describing the features of a good agreement, Iranian Foreign Minister added: “The opposing parties must return to their full obligations in the UN Security Council.” In this case, Iran will also stop its compensatory measures. It is also important that any agreement reached has the potential for effective verification.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran referred to the constructive and forward-looking talks between the President of Iran Atomic Energy Organization and Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Tehran, and added: Tehran continues technical cooperation with the IAEA.

Dr. Amir Abdullahian also mentioned about the previous six rounds of talks, “We do not ignore these talks, but as the new government, we reserve the right to review and discuss the disputed issues with our own considerations.” .

Welcoming the start of the talks and his full support for the full revival of the UN Security Council, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed hope for the outcome of the talks.
He called Iran’s request for verification to lift sanctions reasonable.

The Secretary-General called for the efforts of all parties to build trust between the two sides and stressed the full support of the United Nations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran then talked with the Secretary General of the United Nations about the issues of Afghanistan.
Dr. Amir Abdullahian, while emphasizing the formation of an inclusive government, called the dangerous human situation on the eve of the cold season worrying. He cited the immigration crisis, sanctions on the financial resources of the Afghan people and the terrorist acts of ISIS as among the causes of the crisis in Afghanistan.
Expressing concern over the widespread crisis, especially the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, Antonio Guterres stressed the need to inject cash into the country’s economy.

“We are working to establish a mechanism to inject cash into the Afghan economy through the creation of an international monetary fund with the help of the World Bank and several other countries, despite sanctions,” he added.
