Altun praises Tatar’s contributions
Turkey’s Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun stated that the TRNC President Ersin Tatar has given a strong and clear message to the international community that Turkey supports a two-state solution in Cyprus.

Altun noted that President Ersin Tatar took part in the Turkic Council Media Forum which took place two weeks before the Turkic Council meeting and that explained to the participants why Cyprus is important for the Turkic world.

Stating that President Tatar gave the message that the TRNC is the bastion of the Turkish world in the Eastern Mediterranean, Altun added that with this strong message given, an important gain has been achieved in terms of the recognition of the TRNC and that Turkey has a clear position on the two-state solution in Cyprus has been brought to international platforms.

Altun also pointed out that it was decided to transform the Turkic Council into the Organization of Turkic States at the meeting of Heads of State of the Turkic Council and underlined that this is a very critical decision.

Turkish National Defense Minister Akar: “We will not give up our rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean”
Turkish National Defense Minister Akar reiterated his clear stance on the Cyprus issue in an interview with CNN Türk in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Akar said, “We support two equal states in Cyprus. We will not give up on our rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean, and to protect the law of our Cypriot brothers.” (BRT)

Turkish Cypriot mountaineer waves the flag of TRNC on the summit of Mount Vinson, the highest point in Antarctica
Turkish Cypriot mountaineer Birkan Uzun, who lives in Seattle, Washington state of America, reached the summit of Mount Vinson, which is the highest point of Antarctica with an altitude of 4,892 meters, on 16th December and waved the the flag of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Speaking to Turkish Agency Cyprus (TAK), Uzun said that the goal of climbing the summit of Mount Vinson in Antarctica constitutes the fifth leg of the “Seven Summits” project, which involves climbing the highest mountain of each of the seven continents of the world.

Uzun said “It is very proud to be able to wave the TRNC flag at the summit, I wanted to thank the country I grew up in.”
